Lake balaton & herend

If you just have one day to spend at Lake Balaton, we would suggest to go to the Northern Shore to visit the Tihany peninsula and abbey and the most popular beach resort in Hungary, Balatonfüred. Balaton is also known as the ‘Hungarian Sea’ as locals like to call it. The Tihany abbey was built in the 11th century and is located on top of the hill, offering fascinating views over Lake Balaton. You find plenty of small traditional restaurants and gift shops along the cobbled streets of the village. After visiting Tihany, our suggestion is to head to Balafonfüred. Stroll along the lake, have lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants and enjoy the holiday vibes. If the weather allows, you can take a dip in the lake or if you wish to soak in more culture, you can also visit Herend and the famous Porcelain Manufactory.
